Petit Pretre is French for Little Priest. This is the traditional name given to the lakes which are set in a beautifully unspoilt 52 acre woodland located just 2Km south-east of Montier-en-Der in the Champagne-Ardennes region of France. The lakes were originally excavated several hundred years ago by Monks setting up their own fish farming facilities. Hence the name “Little Priest”. We will be trying to learn more about the history of the lakes and publish the information in due course. After extensive work we opened the Main Lake in mid-2008. We have subsequently completed the work on the Gun Lake which opened at the start of the 2010 season.
